If you have read our manifesto on the homepage, you already know what drives us. We believe your brain is a treasure, and the act of getting an idea out of your head should be instant, frictionless and joyful.
We were tired of note-taking apps that felt like managing a piece of software. We didn't want to pay a monthly rent just to write down a shopping list, and we certainly didn't want our thoughts and ideas getting stuck behind loading spinners and complex databases.
So, we stripped it all back and built StarJot.
But what does a blisteringly fast, subscription-free note-taking app actually look like in practice? Here is how StarJot gets out of your way and lets you capture your mind.
A return to fast
The key thing to know about note-taking is this: don’t overcomplicate it. You don’t need a wildly complex set-up or a "buzillion" features you will never use.
There are no loading screens here. You just open the app, and you write. But simplicity doesn’t mean stupid. You still need carefully thought-out tools that allow you to easily connect your notes together and get stuff out of your head instantly.
Build your constellation

[[Title. The text after the brackets becomes the title, and it is automatically linked. - Keep it clean: Hide notes from your sidebar. This is perfect for keeping your workspace tidy while relying on backlinks to navigate your thoughts.
- Add visual context: Seamlessly drop images into your notes to capture exactly what you mean.
Your orbit, your rules
Because your thoughts are yours, they stay yours.
Your data lives in your orbit—stored securely on your device and synced via your iCloud. It is secure, private, and untouchable. No prying eyes. No data mining. No one else can access them.
