Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 April 2026

In this policy, we lay out what data we collect and why, how your data is handled and your rights with respect to your data.

The short version is simple: we do not collect, store or process any of your personal data. This policy applies to the StarJot mobile application, built and maintained by Going Bold Ltd.

What we collect and why

Our guiding principle is to collect only what we absolutely need. For StarJot, that means we collect absolutely nothing.

  • Identity and access: We do not ask you to create an account, provide an email address or share your name to use the app.
  • Product interactions: Any notes or content you create within StarJot remain entirely local to your device by default. We do not have servers and we do not sync your notes to us.
  • iCloud Syncing: Should you wish, you can choose to store your notes in a dedicated folder on your iCloud. This is a fantastic option as it allows you to seamlessly access your jots across all your Apple devices. When enabled, your data is protected by Apple's infrastructure and we highly recommend turning on Apple's 'Advanced Data Protection' for true end-to-end encryption.

A brief note on security: While the UK government's legislative stance occasionally challenges the existence of end-to-end encryption, Apple continues to provide these robust security features. Regardless of the political landscape, our technical guarantee remains absolute: Going Bold Ltd has zero access to your iCloud account, your Apple ID or the notes you sync.
  • Analytics and tracking: We do not use background analytics, tracking cookies or diagnostic tools that gather your IP address, device identifiers or location data.

Our Stance: Your brain is a treasure, and the act of getting an idea out of your head and into the real world is magic. Because your thoughts are yours, they must stay yours. Whether it is a fleeting moment of genius, an unfinished plan, a to-do list for your day or a private reflection, your ideas belong strictly in your orbit: secure, private and untouchable. No prying eyes. No data mining. We take this foundational right to privacy incredibly seriously, and believe you should never have to entrust your raw, forming thoughts to any platform that treats your mind as a commodity. Your mind is your own; your notes must be too.

Advertising and third parties

StarJot is a standalone application. We do not run third-party advertising networks within the app, meaning your usage is not tracked or shared to serve you targeted ads. We also do not integrate third-party software development kits (SDKs) that might silently collect your data in the background.

Your rights with respect to your information

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have comprehensive rights regarding your personal data, including the Right to Know, Right of Access, Right to Erasure ("To Be Forgotten") and the Right to Restrict Processing.

Because StarJot operates without collecting or storing a single piece of personal information, there is no data held on our systems for you to request access to, rectify or delete. Your data is completely under your control on your own Apple devices. If you wish to permanently delete your data, you simply need to delete the app and its associated iCloud data from your device settings.

How we secure your app

Even though we do not transmit or store your personal data, we go to great lengths to ensure the application itself is secure. We employ industry best practices in software development to ensure StarJot remains resilient, stable and safe to use.

Children's privacy

Because StarJot operates entirely without collecting personal information or tracking usage, it is safe for users of all ages and carries no age restrictions. We fully comply with the privacy requirements of both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store regarding child users, as well as the UK Children's code (Age-appropriate design code).

Changes and questions

We may update this policy as needed to comply with relevant regulations or to reflect any new practices. If we make significant changes, we will refresh the date at the top of this page.
